FUNCTIONAL MEDICINE FT. LAUDERDALE

Functional medicine addresses the underlying cause of disease by shifting the traditional disease-centered focus of medical practice to a more patient-centered approach.

Functional Medicine

Functional medicine integrates traditional western medical practices with what is sometimes considered “alternative” or “integrated” medicine; creating a focus on preventative medicine. Functional medicine addresses the underlying cause of disease by shifting the traditional disease-centered focus of medical practice to a more patient-centered approach.  Functional medicine addresses the whole person, not just an isolated set of symptoms.  As functional medicine practitioners, we spend more time with our patients, listening to histories and looking for ways that genetic, environmental and lifestyle factors influence long term health and chronic disease.

Using an integrative, science-based or evidence-based medicine approach, functional medicine practitioners look at “the big picture” to consider the complex interactions in the patient’s history, physiology and lifestyle factors.  We use a combination of comprehensive lab testing and other diagnostic techniques and recommend personalized treatment plans.   Treatment plans may include a combination of change in diet, nutrition and exercise programs, prescription medication, hormone replacement therapy, and pharmaceutical grade supplements, detox programs, and stress management techniques to affect overall long term outcome on health and well being.
