LOW-LEVEL LASER (LIGHT) THERAPY (LLLT) FOR HAIR RESTORATION
At Dr. Taylor’s Cape Coral Office, we offer an FDA-approved therapy called Low-Level Laser Light Therapy also referred to as LLLT for hair loss and hair restoration. The LLLT treatment applies healing properties to hair, also known as photo-biogenesis, a process which promotes healing and occurs as laser light is absorbed by cells to improve blood flow and stimulate cell metabolism, thereby stimulating hair follicles. The result is hair restoration and hair regrowth.
The treatment is simple and can be completed within an hour. Patients sit in a comfortable chair with a hood like fixture that is configured to surround the entire scalp with low-level laser light therapy. Proprietary shampoos, conditioners, topical serums, and vitamins are encouraged as part of the treatment program.
PLATELET RICH PLASMA (PRP) FOR HAIR RESTORATION
PRP hair therapy is a safe, non-surgical therapeutic option for male and female patients experiencing hair loss and seeking hair restoration. PRP is a more aggressive technique to improve hair restoration than Low-Level Laser Light Therapy. Patients who are not totally bald, but have thinning hair are the best candidates for PRP hair restoration.
Recent scientific research and technology provide us with a new understanding of wound and tissue healing. PRP is a natural autologous medical procedure performed in-office for scalp, skin and hair stimulation. Platelet-rich plasma utilizes the growth factors in your blood plasma to stimulate the hair follicles into a phase of active growth.
The Platelets contain many intracellular structures such as lysosomes, glycogen, and alpha granules. These granules within PRP contain growth factors that release during the healing and repair process.
The treatment takes approximately one hour. PRP treatment involves withdrawing a small amount of blood from the patient. The blood is then processed to separate platelet-rich plasma (PRP) from the rest of the blood., creating highly concentrated PRP, which is then injected into the scalp. After the injection, the hair is washed, the patient may then drive home without assistance. No medication or sedation is required for this procedure.
IN-OFFICE HAIR RESTORATION TREATMENTS
If PRP is a viable solution to hair restoration for you, we can begin your PRP treatment at the time of your consultation. After the initial session, the next treatment will occur in 6 weeks. Additional treatments are given at three-month intervals for the first year and then every six months, after that, depending on the response. Patients are monitored by photographs to assess the benefits of hair restoration therapy. Individual response to therapy may alter the treatment schedule. Individual results vary with each patient; results are not guaranteed.
PRP therapy is the perfect complement to LLLT, as a non-surgical approach, for those patients who do not wish to undergo surgery or are not eligible for surgery, or who do not tolerate the medications Minoxidil and DHT blockers. PRP therapy allows for the opportunity of hair growth and restoration for those patients wanting a more aggressive non-surgical approach to hair restoration treatment.
