What Is Juvéderm® Ultra Plus XC?
Slightly thicker than Juvéderm® Ultra XC, Juvéderm® Ultra Plus XC is injected into the mid and deep dermis, allowing for greater volume deposition over a larger area. With extensive experience administering over 3,000 Juvéderm® injections, AIM provides clients with the desired results at our Cape Coral location.
Juvéderm® was introduced in 2006 and is made of hyaluronic acid, a substance that exists naturally in all living organisms. This universal component is found in the extracellular space, with about 56% located in our skin and the rest in muscles and bones. As a polysaccharide, hyaluronic acid has an identical chemical structure across all species and tissue types, and it can be harvested from various sources, including plant, animal, or non-animal (bacteria). Juvéderm® is fully biocompatible, meaning allergy testing is unnecessary.
Why Is Hyaluronic Acid Important?
As we age, our skin cells lose their ability to produce hyaluronic acid, and the molecular weight of this acid decreases, reducing its ability to retain water. Hyaluronic acid is widely used in moisturizers and cosmetics due to its excellent water retention capabilities. Even as a hyaluronic acid filler degrades, the remaining material continues to attract water, helping maintain its shape and volume until it is nearly completely absorbed.
How Long Does Juvéderm® Ultra Plus XC Last?
Juvéderm® is proven to deliver long-lasting results, typically lasting about six months. This natural cosmetic filler is injected into the skin to smooth out wrinkles. To enhance patient comfort, the treatment area is anesthetized with a topical cream or nerve block before injecting Juvéderm®. Unlike Botox® Cosmetic, which relaxes the muscles that cause wrinkles, Juvéderm® adds volume directly to the area.
